If you have been around Tower Garden in Schools for awhile, chances are you’ve seen or heard from Colleen. She is a veteran in this space. Colleen started her journey with Tower Garden in 2015, led by her desire to get her 2-yr old daughter excited about eating vegetables. It worked! From there she advocated for Tower Garden to be implemented in her school and the rest is history! Colleen worked with her students to solidify the most impactful ways to utilize Tower Garden in schools. Classroom salad parties quickly ranked #1 and were easily repeatable from classroom to classroom, school to school, spanning from preschool to the university level. Like she always says, “When kids are given an opportunity to grow their own food, oftentimes they cannot wait to eat what they’ve grown.” And that my friends is what the work of Grow Give Learn LLC is all about. We are working to create more opportunities for teachers and staff to thrive with Tower Garden so that more kids (of all ages) can get more opportunities to grow their own food.
